Last Sunday, July 17 for the first time ever the Black sea resort of Sochi has been honored to host the demonstration event of Formula 1 stars in expectation of the country’s first Grand Prix, which is set for 2014 after the Winter Olympic Games.
The three teams took part in the Formula Sochi Festival: the previous world champion and the current leader Red Bull Racing (with reserve driver Sebastien Buemi), part owned by Russian sports car makers Marussia Virgin (with both Timo Glock and Jerome D’Ambrosio getting behind the wheel) and Lotus Renault GP (with Vitaly Petrov himself). Ferrari show car was also on display.
The promotional event took place in the city center and started at the Zimny theatre square down Ordzhonikidze Street to the city center, 1600 m distance, 9-11 m wide track.
In spite of the oppressive July heat about 40 thousand locals enjoyed the sights and sounds of Formula One machinery.
